Riding a Plane of the Desert
The day was hot and dry, the light a blinding white, the sky clear and hanging with just a few clouds. We were supposed to be embarking towards sand dunes where we would be spending a night in, with stars decorating the evening sky.
Sandy were our meals as there were no water to clean them. (Sand was used to clean the plates after we used them. -- We didn't get diarrhoea though :p )
The rides was quite a cultural shock too. These camels walk and eat in between the journeys and the food always get regurgitated into their mouths to chew again. Imagine the smell that comes floating into your noses when the wind blows; a mixture of sourness and decay... almost had to hold my breath everytime it happens but always too late to avoid .. arrgghh...
And then the ride was bumpy... my friend told me that she was having so much pain that she eventually got down her camel even before we got back to the jeep to escort us back to the hotel. Luckily i could withstand the pain and held on till it was the end. Imagine the distance i have to walk for the entire few hours! Phew!
The night sky and the sand dunes were our rewards and was they beautiful! Really enjoyed the entire sky of stars and the fine desert sand. The hemisphere was practically making the stars change their position and we could see constellations in the vast night sky. If not for the wind and cold, i think we could have stayed outside throughout.
How nice if there were a few more friends who came along. Enjoy the solitude from the urban city, enjoy the fresh air and enjoy that indescribable feeling!
